When the work gets fun, the kids come run.
Everyone had their hands in it. It really is a fun time when we can all be in the same room and not hear any arguing. Dylan deserves lots of credit for being around for the whole project. Doing much of the heavy/dirty work all on his own. He helped with gutting and hauling the old kitchen away whether it went to the dump or the garage. Whenever I (Mom) needed someone strong or tall to help me, I always called for Dylan. There wasn't a single time that I remember him responding with, "Do I have to?"
This shocked me. In order to remove the glue and the backing from the old linoleum, we had to dump hot water on the floor and let it set for about 7 minutes. Then we used a putty knife to scrape it up. It came right off. Little did I realize that the water was soaking through to the basement floor. Oh well.
This is the 5x5 section of flooring that Chet installed while Tim was installing the new windows. This is where the bathroom use to be and it had no hardwood. We were concerned that it would not blend well. Not only did Chet do an awesome job of installing but it took the stain well and you can hardly tell the difference. You will see soon enough.
the floors look awesome!! can't wait to see pics of the cabinets that are coming soon! remember if you need help with anything to give us a call, for real!! :) i know a lot of people say that but we mean it.
