Dylan throwing the shot put for the first time competitively.
He was afraid he would injury his shoulder but Tim and I convinced him to try.
Let's just say, he didn't do very well the first time. He had only thrown a couple times at practice before he had to throw at this meet.
It didn't help that there were two schools from Kansas City attending this meet that had two boys who threw in state.

Tried another way to throw but still no luck.
Tim and I are very proud of Dylan. The only reason he went out for track was to stay in shape. He would come home telling us how he ran 3 to 4 miles at practice. He and the coach decided he would run the mile at meets. Now, you know as well as we do that Dylan is not built for the mile. He does the best he can and that is all we can ask of him. His only goal is to beat his last record, and so for, so good. After his second meet he decided he didn't mind coming in last because it's not just your team cheering for you it's everyone in the stands. One of his text home said, I got 3rd in the 4x800 relay and 4th in the mile and still come in last.
Cassidy was struggling on her practice jumps because her footing was off but figured it out before her third jump and did her best so far this year.

After injuring her left elbow and she sprang her right ankle, she decided to try the shot put.
She threw it for the first time and got 2nd place.
She was so proud of herself, she used Aunt Debbie's phone to call home and tell everyone.
